Rest

Dear Friends... today is a great day!! I hope you do feel God's pleasure (again, check out the movie "Chariots of Fire" if that doesn't make sense to you). For the first time in over six months, Clay and I got a whole night of sleep. Yes folks, our baby slept through the night. Those of you who have children probably understand how monumental this is. And to top it all off, today is my day of rest from running. Clay, Canton, Carter and I went out to do speed work yesterday and even though it was only about four and a half miles of work, my body is feeling a little beat up today. Praise God for rest. I think that you have to go through harder times (like not sleeping for months on end and completing hard workouts) so that you can realize just how wonderful things like sleep are. As a society, we don't sleep enough. It can definitely affect our performance daily, be it work, family, or running. My prayer for all of you this weekend is for rest. May you be blessed with the gift of renewal.

Well, it is really early and I think I am going to go rest on the couch with a cup of coffee, Clay, and Carter while we wait for Canton to wake up.

Prayer Request for the Day: For all our nation's leaders.

Song of the Day: Sleeping In - Nevertheless

Matthew 11:28 "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened and I will give you rest."

Erin~ Yay! So glad you got to sleep through the night! It really is a good thing. I ran for the first time since being sick almost 3 weeks ago. It was such a great run! I think that not having the nursing sucking my energy and now my thyroid medication, which seems to be doing good things to my body, I am fresher than ever! Now I just have some catching up to do before the Thanksgiving run. I think it is so neat that you are doing this group and blogging about it. I've never done a blog.....facebook is kind of like that for me. It's neat to see yours and catch up on your day-to-day happenings. I do feel my running is becoming more and more effortless, which allows me to focus on God and the blessings / struggles for the day. That is a good thing about running : you can build up to the point that your body just moves without much thought. I say that now after a great run....it's the speedwork and hard runs that make that bump in the road (like life I guess). For now, I pray that I can have an easier time getting up in the mornings.....that is SOOO hard for me. It really is the best time to run though, when you have two little ones. It's just so bloomin' dark out at that time of the morning. Keep up the good work! Love and hugs, Rachele
